The Keren Elijah Podcast
What if trusting God doesn’t look like waiting—but moving?
I used to think I was being patient. That I was waiting on God's timing. But the truth? I was scared. I was hesitating, over-processing, waiting for a 'perfect' moment that never seemed to come. And maybe you've been there too.
In this episode, we talk about the tension between faith and action, how to know when it’s time to move vs. when it’s time to wait, and the quiet ways fear disguises itself as patience.
If you’ve been stuck in hesitation, waiting for one more sign—this episode is for you.

It helps more women step out of hiding and find their voice.
You don’t need more pressure. You just need a way forward. Let’s figure it out — together.
I've been thinking about something a lot lately. We talk a lot about waiting on God, and I get it. I've said it myself. I'm just waiting on God's timing. I don't want to move ahead of Him. I'll start when I have more clarity. And yes, God's timing is perfect. But what if sometimes we're not actually waiting on God?
What if He's actually waiting on us?
I remember this moment so clearly. I had been praying about something for so long, months, maybe even years. I kept asking God, God give me a sign, make it clearer. Just confirm this thing one more time. And I kept feeling this quiet whisper in my spirit. You already know it's time to go. What did I do? I asked for another sign.
I waited a little longer and I convinced myself I wasn't fully ready. And here's what I need to be honest about. I thought I was being patient. But really, I was just scared. Because moving meant risk. It meant stepping into something I wasn't 100 percent prepared for. Or I felt like I wasn't prepared for.
It meant trusting that God had already given me everything I needed, even if I didn't feel like it at that time. And the truth, that's where some of us are now. I need to think about this for a moment. Where in your life have you been telling yourself that you're waiting on God, in quote, but deep down you already know what he has asked you to do.
Where have you been praying for more confirmation when the first one was already enough? What's that one step you know you need to take but you've been putting off? I need you to sit for a moment because this is where things get real. I had to learn this the hard way. Sometimes waiting too long is actually disobedience.
As my mentor Pastor Andrew Bawa says, delayed obedience is also disobedience. I know this sounds heavy, but hear me out. Because trusting God doesn't always look like waiting. Sometimes it looks like moving before you feel ready. And I know that is so hard. I mean, it's scary, because we're thinking, what if I mess up?
What if I hurt him wrong? I don't know. What if I don't have everything I need? But here's the thing. God doesn't just give us clarity first. He gives us direction. And clarity, it comes with doing. It comes in the motion. Think about this. Let's paint a picture. Moses at the Red Sea. The Israelites were stuck.
Water in front of them. Pharaoh's army behind them. And then they started crying out to God, panicking, waiting for a miracle. I can just imagine the confusion and then Moses just here looking like, God save me from these people. But you know what God said? Why are you crying out to me? Tell the Israelites to move forward.
I mean, is it not water that is in front of them and Pharoah's army behind them? So how are they supposed to move forward? But that's what he said in Exodus 14 verse 15. In other words, stop waiting, it's time to move. And the reason we can hear this story as a miracle now is because they moved forward.
God had given the instruction and Moses did. He took that action. And the crazy thing, the water didn't part while they were standing still. The water didn't part before they moved. The miracle happened as they stepped forward. And I wonder, what if your breakthrough and my breakthrough isn't in more waiting, but in your movement, in my movement?
What if the thing we are praying for
is on the other side of that step we haven't taken? Just imagine. So what does this actually look like? How do you know when it's time to wait versus when it's time to move? Because I don't want you to hear this and think I'm saying just rush ahead and do whatever. No, there are times when God says, wait, and there are times when he's working on things behind the scenes, but there are also times when he has already given you everything you need.
And the only thing missing is you actually taking that step. So here's how I started discerning the difference. Faithful patience feels like peace. Feels like ease. But fear based hesitation feels like pressure, second guessing, stalling, you know. Faithful patience means you've been waiting in expectation.
But fear based hesitation feels like pressure. means you've been waiting because you are scared. Remember, the Lord has not given us the spirit of fear. Faithful patience means that you trust God and he'll give you the next step in his timing. But fear based hesitation means that you already have the next step, but you're just afraid to take it.
And if that's where you are, maybe this episode is your confirmation. Maybe this is the sign you've been waiting for.
So before we close out, here's what I want to leave you with. If you've been sitting in hesitation, this is your invitation to take that first step. If you've been praying for a sign and you already know what to do, this is your reminder that you do not need another confirmation. If you've been scared to move, because you don't know if you are ready or you don't feel ready.
This is your reminder that God qualifies those he calls. So you're already qualified for all that you think you're incapable of. He has already called you, and he'll give you the means to do it. But listen, I know it's not easy. I know stepping out in faith can feel like walking into the unknown with no guarantee of what's on the other side.
So before you go, I want to pray over you.
Father, I thank you for the woman. person listening right now. She's been carrying this weight, the weight of hesitation, the fear of getting it wrong, the uncertainty of stepping into something new. But God, you have not given her the spirit of fear. You've given her the power, love, and a sound mind.
I pray that even in this moment, she feels your peace and she's reminded that she is not alone and that you have gone before her to make her way. Give her the courage to move. Give her the clarity to trust that you are guiding her. I remind her she doesn't have to have all the answers because you are the answer.
In Jesus name, amen.
